We provide services to:

  • People over 18 years of age
  • People with physical disability
  • People with learning disability

  • The terminally ill
  • Carers in need of respite, long or short term
  • High dependency

Types of care available:

  • Personal care
  • Palliative care
  • Assistance with Mobility
    (one or two carers depending on needs)
  • Assistance with washing/dressing
  • Showering/bathing
  • Assistance with applying creams
  • Putting on support stockings

Male & female support workers will have training in:

  • Infection control
  • Moving and handling
  • Emergency first aid
  • Food hygiene
  • Adult abuse
  • Dementia
  • Administration of medications
  • Complete a full induction course
  • Have an enhanced CRB check completed prior to commencement of employment

We also provide:

  • A respite/sitting service
  • Help with mealtimes,
    preparing, cooking and serving of meals
    Breakfast, lunch and teatime
  • shopping,
    collection of shopping
    Taking a service user shopping
  • General housework (except cleaning windows),
  • Laundry
    Taking to launderette
    Loading washing machine / Hanging laundry
    Ironing
  • Medication.
    Prompting to take medication
    Oversee and supervise the taking of medication
    Administering of Medication (as per care plan )

TRAINING AT CAREFIRST

At Carefirst, we like to ensure that all new employees to the agency undertake a comprehensive training programme prior to commencing with care within the community setting. Our goal is to support potential new employees to have full awareness and knowledge in the fields of care the agency provides support in.

Each new care employee will complete an induction process within the agency. A full induction programme is completed over a 4 day period and is provided within the training room facilities at the agency's premises. The induction programme includes:

  • Skills for care knowledge and practical skills
  • Policies and procedures surrounding Carefirst practices
  • Care planning
  • Equality and diversity
  • Nutrition and well being
  • Medication administration
  • Adult protection
  • Personal care delivery
  • Dementia care support
  • Infection control
  • 1st aid
  • Moving and positioning
  • Health and safety
  • Continence management and support
Carefirst is also keen to support new employees with obtaining national vocational qualifications in Health and Social care, providing support in accessing and managing their course work within their working career.

All new employees will be given the opportunity to work alongside experienced members of the care team prior to taking on as a Health and social care worker. Known as shadowing, each new member is given the opportunity to shadow an experienced team member in the area of work that may shortly become their own.

Supervision and training is an ongoing area of support that Carefirst offer new employees, depending on the individual needs of new care members, supervision and training is continuously on offer.

  • To address the service user in a manner of their choice.
  • Ensuring Choice Dignity Privacy and Respect is maintained at all times regardless of a persons disability, sexuality, race, origin, culture, religious beliefs and values.
  • To treat all information about individuals in a private and confidential manner.
  • With continuing reviews this enables our Service users to have a positive input in their care package ensuring their needs are met.
  • Each employee will be carefully selected, Have a enhanced CRB disclosure and supported by the management team, each employee will have a personal development plan, ensuring that their training needs are met, enabling them to provide first class service to our Service users.
  • All Support Workers will be encouraged to undertake an NVQ in Care.
